Note from American SPCC:
We believe that childhood should be fun for kids. A time to learn, be nurtured, and loved. Childhood shouldn’t hurt.
But the harsh reality is that millions of children experience devastating childhoods, with long-term debilitating effects. Child abuse, neglect, exploitation, and bullying are at epidemic levels in the United States.
Currently there are over 428,000 children in the U.S. foster care system. All have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect by their caregivers. 112,000 children and youth are currently waiting to be adopted by their forever family and experience the safe, happy and healthy home that they deserve.
American Society for the Positive Care of Children joins National Adoption Month´s goal to increase national awareness and bring attention to the need for permanent families for children and youth in the U.S. foster care system.
American SPCC encourages you to join us as we shine a light on adoption and the challenges and needs of foster children.
