American SPCC Celebrates Giving Tuesday!

Nov 28, 2022 | #EndofYearGiving, #GivingTuesday, WaysToGiveBack

This Tuesday, Nov 29th, is the Global Day of Giving, otherwise known as Giving Tuesday! We hope you will consider giving to the American Society for the Positive Care of Children’s mission.

American SPCC knows that understanding Positive Parenting changes families and has the power to create impact for generations to come. American SPCC provides the tools and resources families need to better care for their little ones. Nearly 1,000,000 parents and caregivers are impacted each year by our Parenting Resource Center.

So What is Giving Tuesday?

Giving Tuesday #givingtuesday began as an idea in 2011. It was the brainchild of the non-profit Mary-Arrchie Theater Company in Chicago and the then-producing director Carlo Lorenzo Garcia, urged shoppers in an article in the The Huffington Post, to take a different approach; to consider donating to charity after they had finished their Cyber Monday shopping. The initiative was officially founded the following year by Henry Timms and branded as “GivingTuesday” by the 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post -Thanksgiving season.

It is traditionally held 5 days following the American Thanksgiving holiday on Tuesday and it is celebrated as the world’s largest generosity movement.

#GivingTuesday is about encouraging generosity from everyone. Honestly it’s so simple: it is a day that encourages people to do some good in the world. There are so many ways to help, give time, make someone smile, help a neighbour, or make a donation. Which is what we are hoping you will choose to do!

Become a part of the Giving Tuesday network and give to American SPCC’s mission today.

Everyone has something to give and every act of generosity counts.
