Share your story in a video.
We recommend using YouTube for your videos, as YouTube provides a lot of help and support for first-time video-makers.
1. Create a YouTube account
If you don’t already have an account, you should create one now.
2. Create Your Video
Besides a video camera, most smartphones (iPhone, Android, etc) and many digital cameras can also record video – check your device’s manual or website. YouTube can also record your video directly through a webcam!
Some Helpful Tips
- Clear sound is crucial. If no one can hear it, no one will watch it. Make sure to shoot in a quiet environment and project your voice.
- Don’t backlight. Make sure light is on your face and not behind it — i.e. don’t sit in front of a bright window or light.
3. Upload Your Video
Smartphones can often upload videos to YouTube directly with a simple command. For other devices you will need to transfer the video to your computer, then upload it to your YouTube account.
Important: Title and tag your video. Use the title “ASPCC” and include your name and location – i.e. “ASPCC: Jane Doe in Los Angeles”. Use tags to describe your video so that other people can find it — i.e. ”ASPCC Los Angeles abuse survivor” or “ASPCC San Antonio motivational message”.
4. Tell Us About Your Video
