Childcare Expert Jo Frost (the SuperNanny) Named Celebrity Spokesperson for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
New Non-Profit Aims to Bring Child Abuse Prevention to the Forefront of Public Dialogue
October 14, 2011 –Los Angeles, CA – Newly launched non-profit The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (American SPCC) has announced internationally known parental expert and family advocate Jo Frost as the official celebrity spokesperson for the organization.
“I’m honored and excited to be working with the American SPCC,” Frost said. “From personal experience, I know that to affect change, recognition and dialogue must first take place, and this is the goal of the American SPCC. Breaking the taboo associated with talking about child abuse is the first step toward healing for victims and potential abusers.”
Frost is best known in the U.S. as The SuperNanny, from her hugely popular hit TV show that ran for eight seasons and aired in 49 countries. With 24 years experience in childcare, Frost knows how crucial the early years are in personal development.
“It’s critical that frustrated parents and abuse victims know that they have somewhere to turn for help,” Frost said. “My hope, and that of the American SPCC, is that by raising awareness of the prevalence of child abuse in our society, people will begin to take notice, talk about these issues and seek healthy solutions.”

“We are thrilled to have Jo Frost working along side us,” said Terry O’Neal, President of the American SPCC. “Beyond being an internationally recognized family advocate, she’s a person who’s in touch with the stresses that American families endure each day, and she intuitively gets to the foundation of family traumas, which can, and often has, led to child abuse.”
Frost has authored five books on childcare. Her newest title, Jo Frost’s Confident Toddler Care, went to number one the summer of 2011 in the U.K. She is currently a regular contributor on the Rachel Ray show and has another TV show, Extreme Parental Guidance, in its second season in the U.K.
